Outgrown Sage 50? It might be time for Sage 200

What is Sage 200?

As with Sage 50, Sage 200 is an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system designed to streamline business processes. Sage 200 is a fully integrated solution that offers more enhanced functionality when compared with Sage 50. With two versions available, Sage 200 Standard and Sage 200 Professional, the software offers a futureproof solution that’s able to match the level of complexity within your business processes.
Upgrading from Sage 50 to Sage 200.

Growing businesses face an increasing number of challenges, whether you’re offering new services, managing a rising number of transactions, or dealing with an increased number of suppliers. Overstretching a system can eventually lead to break downs, and avoiding this unwanted downtime is immensely important for any growing business. Sage 200 is a scalable solution that gives business leaders peace of mind and the knowledge that they are correctly supported.

Moving to Sage 200 from Sage 50 is the next step in your businesses evolution. Businesses are likely to be familiar with this natural progression having previously used software such Sage accounts. The key difference however, will be the level of versatility that Sage 200 offers, as businesses have the ability to:

  • Increase the volume of transactions and users inputting data
  • Set authorisation limits
  • Effectively trace stock
  • Access in-depth reports

As well as the above, Sage 200 also fully integrates with a variety of accredited third-party software. These add-ons offer a fully customisable solution that meets growing business needs.

Sage 200 Standard and Sage 200 Professional

Sage 200 Standard and Professional both have the fundamental capabilities of Sage 200, however the Professional version has been built for businesses with more complex processes in mind. It may not be clear straight away which version of Sage 200 you need to upgrade to, and so it’s essential to speak to a Sage consultant before making a final decision.

Both Sage 200 Standard and Sage 200 Professional have the functionality to help businesses improve efficiency, reduce costs, and make better informed decisions. Sage 200 Professional does offer increased capabilities with additional integration including Business Intelligence, Manufacturing and Project Accounting, however Sage 200 Standard offers comprehensive out of the box functionality with a lower entry price point than the Professional version.

Although Sage 200 Professional will have functionality that goes beyond the Sage 200 Standard solution, businesses should understand the benefits of both in relation to their needs as there’s little point getting the more sophisticated solution if it’s not going to be fully utilised.

What to do next

If you’ve decided your business will benefit from upgrading to Sage 200, speak to a Sage 200 partner that will help you decide which version of Sage 200 will work best for your business. These decisions should be based on your business’s operations and processes, and the reasons why your current system isn’t working for you. This will then help make an informed decision about the features and functionalities that would suit your business best, and ultimately which solution should be recommended.

Alternatively if you do not have a Sage 200 business partner in place, Techsol are a Sage Platinum partner and we always welcome any new businesses that would like to find out more about Sage 200.
