Sage Intacct 2026 R3 release updates

Each quarter, Sage introduces new enhancements to Sage Intacct, helping finance teams work smarter, automate more processes, and gain deeper insight into business performance.

The 2026 R3 release continues that focus with new AI-powered capabilities, improved reporting and analytics, streamlined financial processes, and several enhancements for project-based organisations.

While every release includes smaller usability improvements, we’ve highlighted the updates we believe will deliver the greatest value for finance teams. Here’s a look at what’s new:

Accelerate decision-making

Smart Excel Reporting (Early Adopter)

Finance teams can now build reports directly in Microsoft Excel using live Sage Intacct financial data.

Unlike traditional spreadsheet exports, the data remains connected to Sage Intacct, allowing reports to be refreshed with the latest information whenever needed.

This gives users the flexibility of Excel alongside the control and reliability of Sage Intacct, reducing manual exports and helping teams create more agile financial reports.

Multi-entity and multi-currency projects

Organisations managing projects across multiple entities or currencies now have greater flexibility within Sage Intacct Projects.

This enhancement makes it easier to manage complex project structures while maintaining visibility into performance across different business units and currencies. For growing organisations operating internationally, this provides a clearer picture of project profitability and financial performance.

Enhanced reporting and performance insights

Several improvements have been made across Reporting and Insights, including expanded comparison options within performance cards. Finance teams can now compare results across a wider range of reporting periods, making trend analysis quicker and more intuitive.

These enhancements help users identify patterns, monitor business performance, and make more informed decisions with confidence.

Maximise time through AI and automation

AI-driven anomaly detection for AP Automation

One of the most significant updates in this release is the introduction of AI-powered anomaly detection within AP Automation.

The system can automatically identify potentially high-risk or unusual invoices, helping finance teams detect errors, duplicate payments, and suspicious transactions earlier in the process.

By highlighting exceptions before payments are made, organisations can strengthen financial controls while reducing the manual effort required to review invoices.

Automated prepaid expense amortisation (Early Adopter)

Sage Intacct now provides greater automation for prepaid expense management.

Rather than manually tracking and allocating prepaid expenses across accounting periods, organisations can automate the amortisation process, reducing administration and ensuring expenses are recognised accurately over time.

This improves consistency, saves time, and helps maintain accurate financial reporting.

Faster processing of Accounts Receivable transactions

Accounts Receivable users can now post multiple invoices and adjustments simultaneously.

For organisations processing high transaction volumes, this enhancement reduces repetitive tasks and accelerates month-end processes, helping finance teams work more efficiently.

Invoice previews for billing groups

A new invoice preview workflow provides greater visibility before invoices are generated.

Teams can review billing information in advance, helping identify issues earlier and improving confidence in billing accuracy before transactions are posted.

Optimised for your business

Fixed Assets Management enhancements

Building on recent Fixed Assets improvements, R3 introduces several additional capabilities to improve accuracy and control.

Enhancements include:

  • The ability to reverse asset disposals when mistakes occur
  • Reversals of summarised depreciation postings when adjustments are required
  • Additional dimensions and fields within the Roll Forward report for improved reporting and reconciliation

Together, these updates give finance teams greater flexibility when managing the asset lifecycle while strengthening auditability and reporting accuracy.

General Ledger improvements

Sage has simplified General Ledger configuration and made journal entry approvals easier to access.

Finance teams can also benefit from quicker access to journal entry templates, helping reduce administrative effort and streamline routine accounting tasks.

Expanded purchasing controls

Custom Purchasing Approvals have been enhanced with additional approval criteria, enabling businesses to create more sophisticated purchasing workflows.

This helps ensure expenditure is reviewed by the appropriate stakeholders while maintaining strong governance and financial controls.

Cash Intelligence enhancements (Early Adopter)

Further improvements have been made to Cash Intelligence, providing organisations with greater visibility into cash positions and helping finance teams make more informed liquidity decisions.

As businesses continue to prioritise cash flow management, tools like Cash Intelligence help finance leaders forecast with greater confidence.

AI innovation continues

AI Agent Marketplace

Sage Intacct now includes the ability to discover and access AI agents directly within the platform.

This provides organisations with new opportunities to leverage AI-driven capabilities and extend automation across financial processes as Sage continues to expand its AI ecosystem.

Finance Intelligence Agent (Phased Early Adopter)

Following its introduction in the previous release, the Finance Intelligence Agent continues to roll out to more organisations.

Powered by Sage Copilot, it enables users to ask questions in natural language, explore financial data, and uncover insights faster without needing to build reports manually.

This represents another step towards making financial information more accessible across the organisation.
