Each quarter, Sage releases an update for Sage Intacct. The 2026 R1 update introduces a broad range of enhancements across the system, helping finance teams to work faster, with greater accuracy and deeper insight. Here’s a look at what’s new:
Accelerate decision-making
Line-level approvals for Purchasing
Purchasing approvals are now more flexible with the introduction of line-level approvals. Finance teams can approve, reject, or route individual lines within a purchase requisition or order, rather than sending the entire document to a single approver.
Each line can follow its own approval path based on criteria such as location, department, or project, so that approval workflows can be standardised across teams and the right people only see and approve what they are responsible for. User groups can also be added as approvers, helping businesses maintain consistent workflows and tighter purchasing controls.
Sage Intacct Data Cloud
Sage Intacct Data Cloud provides secure, direct access to Sage Intacct data within Snowflake, unlocking deeper analytics and richer reporting capabilities. Data flows automatically into Snowflake and stays continuously up to date, making it easy to:
- Run SQL queries on live financial data
- Integrate with business intelligence tools
- Build advanced analytics and visualisations
- Support growing reporting and AI use cases
As data needs expand, the architecture scales with the business, enabling more advanced analytics while maintaining the security and control expected from Sage Intacct.
Maximise time
Line-level matching for AP Automation
AP Automation now includes line-level matching powered by AI. The system predicts line entries based on vendor invoices submitted by email or upload and automatically matches each invoice line to the correct purchase order and receipt.
Any discrepancies — such as price changes or quantity mismatches — are flagged immediately at line level, making issues easy to identify and resolve.
This ensures organisations are paying only for what has been ordered and received with less manual effort, improving both accuracy and efficiency in accounts payable.
Fixed Asset Management
Enhancements to Fixed Asset Management streamline the entire asset lifecycle, from construction in progress (CIP) through to reporting and reconciliation:
- Automated CIP – CIP can now be automated, with the system automatically detecting relevant purchases, creating CIP assets, and linking them directly to projects. As projects are completed, assets can be placed into service immediately, removing manual steps and accelerating capitalisation.
- Accurate cost updates – Cost updates are also more accurate and easier to manage. Asset values can be adjusted through AP credits or debits, with depreciation automatically kept in sync with the updated value. This ensures financial records remain accurate without requiring additional manual intervention.
- Clear roll-forward visibility – Improved roll-forward visibility provides a clearer view of asset movement across periods, allowing teams to track additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation with confidence. The fixed asset roll-forward report offers a straightforward way to reconcile the subledger with the general ledger, making the process quicker and more reliable.
Streamlined tax totals in converted transactions
VAT reporting is now more consistent across Sage Intacct. Order Entry and Purchasing transactions that flow into AR or AP display VAT totals at line level, just like direct AR or AP transactions.
This creates a single, consistent tax experience regardless of where the transaction originates, resulting in cleaner VAT reporting, smoother reconciliations, fewer regional inconsistencies, and reduced manual checking.
Optimised for your business
Sage Intelligent Time: Geofencing
Geofencing in Sage Intelligent Time introduces location-based time tracking to improve payroll and billing accuracy.
Employees receive smart reminders to clock in or out when entering or leaving a job site, while GPS-verified hours ensure accurate time capture. Optional geofence restrictions prevent off-site clock-ins, helping reduce time fraud and strengthen compliance.
The result is more accurate time data, fewer disputes, and a smoother experience for both employees and finance teams.
By combining automation with deeper insight and more flexible workflows, Sage Intacct continues to evolve as a powerful platform for modern finance teams looking to accelerate decision-making and drive greater efficiency across the business.
